Steak, mushroom and red wine pie.
Flour and season 500g diced rump steak, fry in batches until very brown, add all meat back to pan, add 1 diced onion, 1 diced parsnip and 1 diced carrot. Cook until veges are starting to soften and onion is clear. add 1 clove crushed garlic and 2 cups red wine. Simmer ’til beef is tender but veges are still firm (about 45mins), add a dozen mushrooms, quartered and cook for further 10 mins. Grease and flour metal pie tin, line with puff pastry. Pour in filling and top with pastry, crimp edges and glaze with egg. Bake 30mins (ish) at 180. to golden brown. serve with dressed green salad.
